Knowledge of optical glass
Glass that can change the propagation direction of light and the relative spectral distribution of ultraviolet, visible or infrared light. According to optical characteristics, optical glass can be divided into: colorless optical glass, optical glass, radiation resistant optical glass, colored optical glass, ultraviolet and infrared optical glass, and optical quartz glass. Today we will learn about the production process of optical glass. See the following points for details:
The materials used to produce optical glass are oxides, hydroxides, nitrates, and carbonates, and phosphates or fluorides are introduced according to the requirements of the formula. In order to improve the transparency of glass, the content of coloring impurities, such as iron, chromium, copper, manganese, cobalt and nickel, should be strictly controlled. Accurate weighing and uniform mixing are required during batching.

The production process is smelting, molding, annealing, and inspection.
① There are single crucible intermittent smelting method and tank furnace (see kiln) continuous smelting method. The single crucible smelting method can be divided into clay crucible smelting method and platinum crucible smelting method.
② The forming methods of forming optical glass include classical crucible breaking method, rolling method and pouring method, but now more and more leaky material forming (using single crucible or continuous melting to flow out the material liquid) is used, which can directly pull the rod or drop the material to press or leak the material to form the large size blank, and improve the utilization rate and yield of the material drop.
③ Annealing In order to greatly reduce the internal stress of the glass and improve the optical uniformity, a strict annealing system has been formulated to reduce annealing.
④ The objects of inspection and measurement include: optical constant, optical uniformity, stress birefringence, stripes, bubbles, etc.
