Nd: GdVO4 Laser Crystal
Neodymium doped gadolinium vanadate crystal (Nd: GdVO4) is an excellent laser crystal with similar properties to Nd: YVO4. It has excellent physical, optical, and mechanical properties. It is one of the ideal laser working materials for laser diode-pumped all-solid-state (DPSS) microlasers. Nd: GdVO4 has higher slope efficiency than Nd: YAG and its absorption cross-section is about 2 times that of Nd: YVO4 and 7 times that of Nd: YAG. Nd: GdVO4 at 1.06 μ The emission cross-section of M is larger than that of Nd: YAG, at 1.34 μ The emission cross-section of M is also higher than that of Nd: YAG. In particular, its thermal conductivity along the < 110 > direction is much higher than that of Nd: YVO4, which is equivalent to that of Nd: YAG. Nd: GdVO4 can achieve high concentration doping without luminescence concentration quenching. The large segregation coefficient also makes it relatively easy to grow Nd: GdVO4 crystals with high optical quality and uniform. Therefore, in the case of high-power DPSS, the effect of using Nd: GdVO4 is better than that of using Nd: YAG and Nd: YVO4.
Main advantages of Nd: GdVO4 crystal:
• large excited emission cross-section
• large absorption coefficient, wide absorption bandwidth, and little dependence on pump wavelength
• good thermal conductivity
• low laser threshold and high laser output slope efficiency
• high laser damage threshold
• good polarization of laser output
