Yb: CALGO Laser Crystal
Yb: cagdalo4 (CALGO) is a promising new laser gain material with many important advantages. The crystal structure of calgo is tetragonal. When it is pumped at 979 nm in π configuration, we can θ A wide emission spectrum from 994 nm to 1050 nm was obtained. This means a very small quantum defect (as low as 1.5%) and gives a good expectation of obtaining ultrashort pulses. Its thermal conductivity is also very high: k = 6.7w/m/k, which means that it can be used in high-power laser applications.

It has been found that Yb doped cagdalo4 crystal (Yb: CALGO) shows excellent performance in producing high-power and ultrashort laser pulses. It has a wide and smooth transmission bandwidth and can produce very short pulses (< 100 fs). In addition, its high thermal conductivity enables it to maintain high-power pumping (the thermal conductivity of 2 at.% Yb: calgo along the A and C axes is 6.9 and 6.3 WK-1 M-1, respectively); The generation of very short pulses and high average power femtosecond oscillators has been demonstrated.

Recently, it has been found that Yb3 +: cagdalo4 is very interesting for the development of diode pumped short pulse mode-locked lasers. Compared with titanium doped sapphire crystal (since the early 1990s, the ultrashort laser system has been selected and the chirped pulse amplification technology can produce very short and powerful pulses), Yb: calgo can directly pump semiconductor laser (green laser pumped titanium sapphire crystal) through very efficient and high power.
